Im looking to paint my 28' de rub-rail down to water line. What's a fair price per foot to mend sinker dings, sand, prime, shoot base then a couple clear? Boat has spray rails, lifting rails and a 3" boot strip.
Something I forgot to mention and we all often forget to factor in is the cost of storage and haul/splash while all this is going on. Not all yards/arrangements with the painter are the same so be sure to ask. It can be hard to arrange to haul and take the boat directly into the prep area or spray booth so if it is being done indoors so there can be a haul, block and wait storage fee, lift and move to the booth and block fee, prep/spray storage time fee, lift and splash fee, it can all add up quickly if this is the process.
I was working myself up to paint my topsides in my shed but I think I will let a pro do it. Have heard that there is a yard somewhere in CT that will store your boat for the winter if you commit to a paint job- any truth to this that anyone has heard?
