So Awlgrip...

After looking at some impressive jobs on here recently has me thinking.

I learned how to do gelcoat a few years ago and love it. To me I feel like I can do it in an imperfect environment and get a good finish, sure with work. I also feel like it stands up better to the environment like as a non skid deck finish.

I also learned how to match repairs and bring old gelcoat back with wetsanding etc.

I've only seen a couple of hacks try to match awlgrip repairs to lets say corners etc.

I use my boat and its going to get scratches... How hard is it to repair damage to it, etc?

Its funny but I see so many people who swear by awlgrip but if your paying a professional, it doesnt matter as your not doing it yourself...

Awlcraft may be the answer. Its the other paint by same company. App. and patch are easier than Awlgrip.

CEShawn, talking to a friend who has painted a few boats told me it is very hard if not impossible to fix Awlgrip unlike gelcoat where you can just patch it in

If you work/fish your boat hard stick with gelcoat. Awlgrip is a great finish but as u said tough to repair. Sharks destroy the hull with there skin also. My next boat will have a gel hull and Awlgrip everything else but I don't work my boat.
