Northern Bay 36', currently with a swim platform that I am going to remove this winter.

I considered a door, but after thought have decided not to add that complexity as I only fish recreationally and have no intererest in giant fishing. I still need to solve the boarding from the water problem for those summer swim days.

On my previous boat with similar 2' freeboard I used a 3' West Marine ladder which got the job done, albeit with a variety of complaints from woman and children! Garelick and others sell a 48" stainless ladder which will improve on what I have.

Anyone use boarding ladders vs doors on a DE without a door and have any advice or other alternatives I might wve missed?

Thank you - exactly what I was looking for!. Stick 2 of those beneath my existing ladder and I'm all set...

I understand from a fishing perspective why you wouldn't want the swim platform, but if you are just fishing recreationally and not chasing the big boy, why not leave the swim platform. My wife and kids love ours.

just dawned on me that stainless is a must as this will be below the water line. Bronze would need to be bonded.

I went with a custom T bar ladder that comes up curls around and drops right into my rod holder . Ladder supports us with full dive gear . Can not post pic on this site

Never a problem fishing with this one. If I am alone and fall over, I can get back in. Have one just like it for sale if interested.
