Finally got my boat covered and somewhat tucked away for the winter. I've been using this 2x6 backbone and pvc ribs framework for about 10 years, didn't give it to the guy who bought my bowpicker because i knew i could adapt it to the H&H. Now i can get some heat inside it and get to work on building my split house, building some bunks and cabinetry down in the forepeak and most importantly install a Dickenson diesel stove for heat.

That's ingenious! Thanks for sharing. Do the pvc pipes go into rod holders?

The ribs (1" pvc) go into a 2x4 that sits on my gunnels, i used a fosner bit to drill flat bottomed holes into the 2x4 and each rib plugs into a hole and is secured with a drywall screw. You can see the 2x4's in pics 3 & 4.
I cover the whole thing with netting that a scrounged from a salmon seine, the wind blows 60-80 around here during the winter and if i didn't have the netting on it the whole thing would sail off.

thought id show you guys how mine came out. now i can get to work. very happy with the hoop building found it new on line for 1050.00. much better than making one from shrink and straping. only about 400.00 more than me making one from shrinkwrap.

The blue boat has the standard sportfish/lobster top from DE composits. The white boat we cut the sides out of the original top and added the sides from the cruiser top to give it a longer house. The cruiser top has to long of a trunk cabin so it was kind of the best of both worlds once the work was done. Only down side was painting a brand new top.
