HIGHLANDS — State Police confirmed that the body of a man was recovered from the water at the Captain’s Cove Marina Friday morning.Trooper Jeff Flynn said that State Police were summoned by the borough police at 7:09 a.m. Friday that there was a body in the water. The State Police Marine Unit responded and removed the body, Flynn said.
Authorities have not identified the man found in the water, Flynn said.
Captain’s Cove is located where the Shrewsbury River empties into the Sandy Hook Bay.
An autopsy will be performed today by the Monmouth County Medical Examiner, Flynn said. It is possible the identity of the individual could be learned from the autopsy, he said.
The State Police Missing Persons Bureau and Major Crime Scene investigators responded.
A fisherman, Edward Broderick, was reported missing Dec. 14 after his clamming boat was found submerged in the water near Captain’s Cove Marina. Broderick’s body has not been recovered, Flynn said.

Wow. That sounds like a match, but you never know. I remember the weather was bad that night of the clamming boat accident. It sucks no matter how you slice it, but some closure is always a good thing.
