3160 cat was the forerunner of the 3208. The 3208 210 hp was a work horse that was almost bullet proof.

I know of a 40' charter boat (Down East Style) here that still has one in it. Top speed is about 13 knots.

The good point is it sips fuel.

I would call a caterpillar dealer in your area for that answer. Trying to find cat parts through other then a cat dealer, is a gamble.

How did you make out with your Cat 3160 parts search? I have a 3160 that is running fine, 41 years old. My local Cat dealer says he can get most parts for it but if anything "big" goes then it might be difficult to fix unless I can find the part I need on the web.
