Cat 3208t

I am looking at a boat with a 3208t Cat (I think 320 or 370hp). The motor was a completely refurb motor when orginially installed the boat in 1998 and recently was overhauled again with new heads, turbo, etc. How many times is the 3208 good to be redone. The motor performs well now but I am concerned about longevity. It has 3000 hours since being installed in this boat but no one knows how many hours on the original use since it was a refurbed motor put in the boat. It is a 31 JC hull

3208 320 was the best one they made. perfect power for a used JC. Make sure it was built with the 506TD gear @ 2:0 ratio swing a 23 X 23 wheel Excellent choice. I would rate a 3208 @ 10,000 on the block providing it never had a blow up or hard overheat. 3000 on a rebuild I would rate the rebuild @ 4000 before any concerns. 3208 blocks are not sleeved.

Correct, but if you destroy a cylinder lining, they can be machined and sleeved


same with any so called throw away (even yanmar )
