Cold weather affecting gps and depth sounder

The last days I've been able to get out wind wise, the mornings have been in the -8 to +5 degrees range. My sounder the past three times will turn on and half light up and immediately shut off until my boat heats up and the heater duct warms it up.

Now on Tuesday it was very cold out and my plotters gps antenna wasn't getting any signal till I got the boat up to temperature. My brother has the exact same sitex explorer plotter and didn't have a problem the other morning.


I've heard of other guys around having the same problems. What gives?

I would check the manual, they may not be rated for cold temperatures like that. LCD's can also act up at low temperatures.

Maybe check at the battery in the antenna, i have had mine go in the past on very cold days. I was told that the battery was only to hold the memory but it fixed my problem so "it worked for me."
