Currently looking for commercial insurance, primarily rod and reel fishing to about 100mi offshore. Looking for recommendations for reputable/ reasonable broker familiar with this type of insurance. Seems most are interested in yacht or charter policies and clueless about commercial fishing. For those interested here is the link for a good read on fishing vessel insurance.

Since you are on Long Island I would give Tom Mott at Alan R Mott agency a call. They have had my fathers and my boat insure for decades now. They have been very good to us and I have commercial insurance. 631-549-2628

massachussetts lobstermens association. They have great rates for commercial vessels. I found them to be 20-30% less than everyone else I checked out. Also, from what I understand they are great to deal with if you do have a claim. good luck

I just redid my insurance and Tim just saved me a bunch of money again this year and the coverage is great never had them give me any trouble with a claim.

When my dad was in the Marine Insurance Business, he had the largest book of day boat commercial and charterboats in New England.

Now that he's done with that and fishing full time, he uses Tim at Ocean Marine for his own boat.

I was with don c. for 15 years....just recently made the switch to tim at OMI INC. where don is now jay c.
better coverage and less money.
