I've got the 226 Isuzu in my young bros, it isn't the fast boat out there but that engine has taken a hell of a beating and still runs perfect. I couldn't be more impressed with it.

I had a 145hp in my 26 Fortier for 20 yrs. It was run at two speeds full and troll. It never used, burned or lost a drop of oil in that time. After 17 yrs I had to replace a manifold. Isuzu wanted a big dollar for it. I called around and found MER in Seattle and they made me one for $700.
That was one of the best engines I've ever had and I would not hesitate doing it again.

Great engine. Wound up and Mr. Dude are right. Never leaked or burned oil. Didn't even need the glow coils in the winter. She would start cold. Only problem was the way the starter was wired. The key would pull the solenoid coil in on the starter and sometimes you'd get a click. Originally thought it was a bad starter but turned out to be a voltage drop. Added a solenoid to pull the solenoid in and never had a problem after. Would buy another in a heart beat. The thing was unbelievable on fuel.

can anyone spell out the performance characteristics of the YB33 hull? is it built to be slower/stable or can it handle higher power and speed? does anyone here have experience using one as a sport fishing platform?
