25 Terry Jason with Cummins 370 power
Hello guys,

I've been doing some calculations on the 25 T Jason (Bill's new/used boat).

Not for Bill, just messing around in my head.

The prop aperture is 26.5" (26.5" X .85 = 22.50")

Looks to me the 25 T Jason hull can swing a 22" prop. Terry Jason confirmed this.

Terry stated when he was building the 25s years ago his choice of power was a 225 John Deere 6068T with a 2:1 gear swinging a 22X22 square prop.

I'm curious....do you guys think a 330 Crusader 5.7 MPI with a 2.52:1 gear can "swing" a 22X22 prop ?? Figure a 3000 rpm cruise, shaft speed = 1190

A 3200 rpm cruise shaft speed = 1270

Or with the limited torque of a gas 330 MPI are we talking a smaller wheel...maybe a 20" ???

Any thoughts ????

I think the boat would run well with that power. However a 22 X 22 would be a push. Most likely you would end up with a 22 X 20 or 22 X 19. Shaft size should be 1.5 minimum.

if it were me i'd put in the biggest gasser i could find/afford and wouldn't have to run the balls off it, but would have the speed/power if i needed it.
