Today I had the 25 T Jason cleaned up with a crushed glass blast job.

I used the same crew that Bill used on his 25 footer down in Quincy.

VC All Purpose Corp out Stoughton, Ma. Craig Salamone and his crew member did a nice job, the price was fair, they drove all the way to Haverhill Ma. to do the job and did a nice cleanup job.

Craig said he used close to 300 lbs of product on the boat today.

Anybody looking for this type of work will NOT be disappointed with Craig and his crew. Both are stand up guys.

VC is even on Angie's list !!!! :D

Looks great Bill, I remember the surprises when I had mind sandblasted 9 years ago:confused: Finding out that someone was in there with a grinder and Marine Tex

Looks like the truck of someone who is passionate about what they do. Nice clean purpose built rig.

What was in that one picture that looked like a distorted rectangle?

This 25 is in better shape than I thought it would be.
The repair or patch on the keel was done correctly.
Rugged, heavy glass, smooth.

I'm trying to figure out what the round spot with the screw in it on the lower part of the stern "is"

This boat should clean up pretty good.

Usually that is where the zinc is placed (being the small pilot hole looking piece) so they could have put on a round one (unlikely), the oval one (would have been two additional holes to keep it from spinning, unless they let it spin, unlikely).

It could just be a high spot in the mold that when the two halves go together they are just a touch out of alignment, that area is then abraded fair and gelcoated over. A regular thing on Northern Bay 36s.

Be sure to check the interior of the boat where that area is, make sure it is glassed really nice inside, not sure what the pink stuff is, might be the old style hull and deck (how I miss #400)

Bill, how are you going to go back with it?

Do you mean the "color scheme" ?? Not sure yet.

Thanks,

Never gave a zinc placement a thought....

The "pink" stuff is what's left of the red boot stripe that was on the boat.

My goal is to have a mechanically sound and safe boat for next season.

Cosmetics to follow !

Keeping the wet keel? I'd be curious as to performance differences between the wet keel and plugging the holes when you put it in. A cork in each hole with some string and a knot so you can just yank them out when in the water. Might be interesting.

Funny....

Yes I'm keeping the wet keel and the "dinosaur parts". :D

But I WILL have a dripless shaft seal.

During my extensive sea trials with this rig I could "feel" the benefit of the added ballast of the water in the keel.:D

Plus I plan on having enough hp and torque to move the ballast water @ a pretty good clip !;)

Two pieces of duct tape.
Used to cover up "wet keel holes"

Oh- dumb question on my part...

What did they charge to do that? What is the plan for repainting? Going to get complicated or just go bottom paint?
