They finally got the specs up on their site. Compareing the performance specs with the 5.9 it looks to be no bargin for the sport boat. At equal hp, with the 6.7 putting out 884 in torq and the 5.9 1231 the 6.7 burns 10gph more than the 5.9:eek: . Dissapointing to say the least

CB34?

Are you "sure" you have your numbers correct???

The 6.7 package will be a far superior marine engine platform to the 5.9 in many respects.

Lots of improvements on the engine "hang ons".

btw,the numbers I have are the following:

QSB 5.9 ...full throttle torque @ 2200 rpm = 942 ft. lbs. burning 7.7 gal/hr.

QSB 6.7 ...full throttle torque @ 2200 rpm = 1095 ft. lbs. burning 8.2 gal/hr.

6.7

Shocking to me as well. Those #s are from the performance specs on their site. Both at 346-347 hp, the 5.9 (1231 torq) burning 7.4 gph and the 6.7 (884) burning 17.6 gph

QSB 6.7 480 vs QSB 5.9 480

billD what horsepower ratings were those numbers for?

Side by side comparision is @ 480 hp., pleasure craft duty.

Here is the Cummins Marine engines link and the engine specs.

I don't know the new engine at all but are we missing the important aspects. The questions I would be asking are what is the weight of the engine, is it a dry sleeve like the 5.9 or wet, what is the duty cycle rating, how much oil in the sump. I suspect is is a more commercially rated engine. The B's are nice but a medium duty pleasure craft engine. To get a real comercial engine you need to got to the C, maybe this a good alternative. Or is it just a little bit bigger B? Looking forward to reports.:?:
