Very entertaining and informative video.
Reminds me of why I never wanted to be a "diesel mechanic".

Many of the components look very heavy! :rolleyes:

Light work. Nothing like pulling the head on a 671. You can be proud of me, Bill D. Just ordered a 315hp 6BTA f/ my BHM today. People who ran the boat before me ruined the one that's in her. I really don't like those tender aftercoolers, but I'm going to give Cummins another chance.

Tell ya what, if you maintain the aftercooler to "Seaboard specs" I'll guarantee ya minimum 20 yrs. of service out of it regardless of hrs.

Be ready to take it off the engine and service it BEFORE you install the engine in the boat.

While you are at it I'll let ya know what else should come off the engine and a couple of things to tweak up and add on ! ;)

To lube all the gaskets and surfaces that were not done at the factory, so when you need to take it apart it comes off.

Brian, you can keep the 330 stock if you choose too.
Some owners "simplify" the engine and upgrade a weak spot or two.

On my 370s I did the following before installing the engines.
1. Removed the fuel cooler. (unnecessary plumbing)
1a. Fuel/oil combo block.
2. Removed the pre air heater circuirt and installed a 24/7 250w block heater. removing the air heater circuit gets rid of 50% or the engine wiring harness.
3. Upgraded the idler pulley bolt.
4. removed the aftercooler, took off and greased end caps.
5. Added 2 high coolant temp 205F switches.
6. Added loss of raw water switches 180F
7. Run 13 qts. MAX in the cranckcase.
8. Vent the cranckcase off of the front timing chain cover.
9. An exhaust system that NEVER holds static water.

May have missed a a couple of odds and ends :D
