While I was away on a work trip overseas my wife and 10 year old son bought a bought a 14" David J Smith this Spring. Fun boat that we used all Summer, actually more that the 26 Seaway CC we have. High sided which is nice. I am a big guy and felt safe moving around in it, pretty stable. took it through some congested areas that have lots of boat traffic and wakes coming from all directions and handled it fine.

Will try to post the I movie my wife made

Did you buy the green one with a Yamaha 30 on it that was once in Norwell?

So I have been meaning to post something about the David j Smith Skiff my wife and son bought this past Spring while I was in Africa on business. It is a fun boat that we all enjoyed as a family with each taking turns at the tiller. It was nice to be able to just sit and watch at times rather than always having to be the one driving.

We went into some skinny water and places I have only driven by my whole life because they were too shallow for the boats we had. Taught my son responsibility and basic maintenance and to value his things. He sanded, painted and applied decals with diligence. Taught me that it is ok if the paint in spots was overlapping or if the spacing on the registration numbers is a bit off and looks like a 10 year old did it because a 10 year old actually did do it and took pride in what he was doing. My wife learned to run it herself and even though she never warmed up using a tiller she wants to get her own boat now.

So here is a movie she put together about their journey. They were on the boat for the launch and the video towards the end of it running along was of them brining it to the ramp on a late October day for the final haul out the season.

Enjoy

Hi, an update on the David J Smith skiff we bought last year. Wicked Lobstah made her made her maiden trip to the fishing grounds yesterday. We loaded on 12 traps, four - three trap trawls that we will be hauling by hand. I figure with traps, line and crew we had close to 1000 lbs in her and she handled it like a champ. Still plenty of freeboard.

Beautiful family sir, and Wicked Lobstah is a beautiful boat! I would be proud of that captain! We have a 22 Novi and our family loves that boat! My 8 year old son and I took a guest out bay scalloping yesterday and have some nice scallops for tonight's sauce + a blue crab. Good skinny water boats!! Seaworthy as all get out too. Merry Christmas !!! I grew up in Winthrop and your wife's awesome video was like a trip down memory lane of my childhood on the harbor. Best part of Boston!!!
Where did you grow up in Winthrop? I did also but I think I have some years on you was back there last week. That video reminds me of my early days on the water. Only my parents were not involved like that. That boy is very luck you.
