Does anyone have time or know of someone who does and would take a trip to Nantucket starting anywhere from Point Judith to Hyannnis? I have to do repair for the Wannacommet Water Dept and need to bring over about 200lbs of tools and a 9' antenna for their water metering system. Two people total. The work would take about 4-5 hours once we are on the island. Round trip ferry service for a vehicle is booked out almost 3 weeks (running fewer boats due to fuel price) and no cargo on the high speed. My boat is too far west in CT and already out of the water. Just a thought in case someone's charters have slowed down, etc. I'd rather spend the money with someone here on the forum anyway. I know it will be more than the ferry, but it is an emergency repair. I only get to check the forum maybe once a day, so I left my cell number below. Thanks in advance.

I might be able to help you out on this. Pick up would be New Bedford or Woodshole. Due to fuel price, long hours and 90 plus miles round trip its not going to be cheap. My suggestion would be to carry the equipment on and get a ride. Fuel price alone will be more than the ferry.

If your interested feel free to reach out with a PM.

Not sure what company you work for, but I have to pay travel for my SCADA / radio techs for my water system, in an emergency I wouldn't be concerned with the cost of that trip. It will cost a lot more if they can't read meters and collect that $$.

Sorry I can't help you with the travel, have you asked the Water Dept. if they have any pull with the Ferry. I would at least offer to pick you up at the ferry and cart you around the island

Yes Colin, exactly the customer's thinking. It's basically get it done -especially with bad WX on the way. All set for now, we set up a ride with a fella from Hyannis. The high speed ferry couldn't guarantee we'd be able to bring our cargo aboard. We've had this coordination dilemma before in the middle of summer, so I thank you guys for responding so we can come up with a good alternative. BBO, New Bedford sounds good next time. We leave from Western Ma, so even with a longer boat ride, starting further west keeps us away from the Cape bridges, especially in the summer.

Yes. By all means, please make sure the Town can spend plenty of my money likely due to their poor planning.
They can ask us for more anytime.

Well Jeff, we'll work as quickly and efficiently as possible! I'd rather not freeze any longer than we have to anyway. On the bright side, the old antenna lasted for almost 15 years. Thanks for the offer on the help, it's great to know someone local. Nantucket is certainly a great antenna testing environment!

Thank you sir. I'll keep you and Jeff in mind. The "far out" schedule for a vehicle back and forth was surprising to me, comparing to work we've done on the island before. The repair went well.
