Yes and Yes. The boat also runs very well it is a little different in that it has twins. Sam is buisy building me a 48ft boat with a similar hull and twins in cockpit motor boxes as on Storm Petrel. My boat does not have a true DE LB cabin and profile and is more of a modern Lake Union Dream Boat with a raised fore deck, but functionaly a twin DE type. There are some pictures of that build on a previous thread.

Do you have any pics of a Lake Union "Dream Boat" ?
I went to Seattle over Columbus Day weekend to attend a wedding.
Sparkling clear blue skies for 6 days...unusual I understand for weather out there.

Seems a beautiful area to boat except for the rain.
Lake Union, Lake Washington, the locks to Puegot Sound and then to the ocean. (I think the ocean was quite a distance...correct?)

I kept a keen eye out for DEs or DE like out there....I saw none.

There are some DE's out here, but you have to keep a close lookout to find them.

There is a really nice Duffy 35 in Edmonds (he posted here some time ago) and I've seen an AJ28 in Everett.

Would love to see more.

The Storm Petrel and my boat are straight drives with motors in cockpit boxes doubles as day beds or large seats. I don't have a picture of a dream boat handy but they are raised deck dropped shereed with windowed house cockpit (often covered) boats.

I found a picture of a dream boat. There are variations but all had raised foredeck and a dropped shear line. My boat is a modern variation it would not be easily recognised as a dream boat and it has a DE bottom with staight drive twins.

I thought Downeast hulls didn't perform well with twins? Are these hulls modified to minimize this? Different keel configuration, maybe

The hulls are slightly different than the typical single motor DE. The keel is more of a narrow long skege type keel. There are DE boats with twins usually in larger sizes.I attach some pictures of my hull longer and sl. wider than the Storm Petrel hull. The loss of the deeper keel has its pros and cons there is of main note the loss of prop protection. This is offset by much better tight quarter manuverability and get home ability. The fuel burn and other running issues are not much different. One or two motors it still takes the same HP to do what you want and it takes one gal of diesel to get 20hp no mater what motor or motors. Most modern boats run with auto pilot on the longand often short legs so any sl. gain from more keel giving directional stability is of little note. Some pictures of pre faired hull attached.
