Deck heights

Typically deck height from cockpit to wheel house, the wheel house has a step up height (higher than cockpit)
Anyone have or ever seen the opposite, step down into the wheel house ?

Asking about downeast boats, I had a Parker and know (and have lots of leg pain daily from the pounding to show for it )

Only step down I've seen is when they raise the deck for a large fish hold, like cod boats long lining. Not a very seaworthy idea though. If the deck ever became a bath tub you want it to drain out the deck, not into the house/engine room.
