Run away.......I know of at least a half dozen commercial owners who have ended up repowering with something else. Never met anyone who had good luck. Mostly in the 400 to 1500 HP range.

Their low HP aircooled engines are not too bad. But that's about it.

I have always called them "Dontzes"

I have a 1015 Duetz rated at 600 HP in my 40 Wayne Beal with almost 14,000 hour on it. I've been very happy with it. No problems with it that wouldn't be expected with high hours. (water pump and raw water pump both went last year) Three others in my harbor all with over 10,000 hours each. They are BIG and HEAVY but if your looking for a slow turning high tourqe engine that usually comes with it.

There was a couple of the 1013's (V6) put in about the same time as mine that didnt work out too well. I don't think any of them are still around. I think that's about what they were rated.
