Not firmiliar with that exact boat, but i had a 31 BHM for 6 years and it is an awesome hull. Its not the fastest 32 footer, but its the most comfortable one ive been on. Mine was a lobster boat and i had 115 4 foot traps on it. Hope I helped

Johnny Woods (RIP) owned the Dixie II and he fished out of P town for many years. He kept a nice boat. Tuna, groundfish and charters. Nice boat, but he may still be on it.

I know the boat first hand, caught fish with Woodsy on her. You won't find a cleaner, better maintained boat. He kept that boat perfect at all times. The boat has stiffiners that run from stringer to deck, making it much stiffer than your average BHM. John was the 'go to guy' for questions about work on other guys boats, so needless to say his was done right. Very quiet, and smooth- no vibrations at all. You won't be dissapointed.

I agree with Best fish.. I also fished with woodsy boat is immaculet, in the early 2000's he replaced the deck and updated most of the below deck framing from the dash to the stern, isntalled a tuna door and ramp, and a slush tank

Awesome...actually met capt Don Cianciolo of the laura jay..and he had mentioned to look for her...to us the Sad Story of the Capt. Passing away...who knows maybe thatll bring some good luck to the boat!!!
My only concern was broker stated there was around 6K on the Cat 3126...definetly cant afford a repower..so I guess if we decide to move forward we'll have to get a CAT Mechanic to survey it..

3126

I Must Retract my last post. The 3126 was the improvement engine. Much better from what I hear. 3116 was the iffy one. Sorry again !

That is what I heard...the 3116 was the problem and the 3126 was the solution...but still 6K seems High..anything I should look for as far as signs of needing a repower...?

Obviously if we decide to put a deposit on the boat we would get a cert CAT mechanic/surveyor to check the engine but if I know ahead of time it needs a repower we probably woudlnt bother...seasons approaching and I dont think the funds could support a repower at this time

The boat was originally built with a used Isusu, then repowered with a 3116 which was replaced with the 3126 in the early 2000's, I doo know that most of the hours on the engine were trolling/harpooning for giants.

Engine : 2002 Cat 3126

Tran : Twin Disc 506-1

Reduction 2.5:1

Wheel 26"x25"

2" Stainless Shaft

This is what it has for gearing and wheel...I believe it has the right set up...if he was trolling/harpooning most of the hours must have been at low RPM's correct?

Joe,one would assume that the boat did alot of just in gear running...i also had a 3126 420hp with a 507 2.5 to 1 in my 36 Wayne Beal and i never had a problem..that was a great set up..good luck and post a few pictures if you buy her

My BHM had a 1999 260 hp 5.9 cummins with a 506 2.5/1, 1 3/4 shaft and i swung a 26 28 or a 25 28.5 4 blade.

went down to see her saturday..very nice boat..It going to need some TLC which im sure Mr. Woods would have kept up with..But overall you could tell in its operational days it was a beautifull boat and still has the potential to be a beautiful boat. Looks like we are going to try and purchase..hopefully everything goes smoothly.

The 3126 actually had less hours then expected...5400.

Joe,
Seems as though you really like the boat. Buy it, shine it up, run it, have some fun!!!

If it needs an engine down the road, please note, all running boats at any time could need an engine, there are lots of great engines to choose from.

Or have the CAT rebuilt.

Looking forward to the purchase.

Whats a roundabout cost of a complete rebuild on a cat 3126??? Truenorth i love the pic of your bhm with all the traps. how much weight do you think you had on her bringing everything out 5-6000??
