Duck boat

Started working on my new duck boat today 9ft by 4ft aluminum Jon boat. Got it for free and have a little engine in the garage that will fit her good. Also have a trolling motor for when fishing freshwater in the summer. Sanded all of the boat today, welding over a small hole in the bottom whenever my cousin gets home with the welder then painting. Mainly will be used to get to the spot rather than hunting out of it due to size. Will be much easier to rip up river to spots rather than walk. It will stay in the marsh right out front.

I have a bucket of this stuff on order and should have enough left over for your boat. It makes a massive difference when pushing through thick vegetation. It will also get you into trouble if you run a mud motor.

What will u use to patch the hole?

Planning on just using aluminum welding rods and just fill all around it on the inside and out side, then a sheet of aluminum over it.

Liam, you won't need to put a patch over your weld. It will be stronger the the rest of the hull. You could also use 5200 instead of welding. .

Yet to do it, I just have not had the time. Ski season is coming to an end shortly so once that ends its all fishing and boats.

I might just patch that over (truss head bolts if you aren't setup for those airplane rivets, a patch of aluminum, 5200 to seal it good), see how it goes when you try to weld it. Hopefully it just goes good & problem solved.

be careful with that jon boat , I had one that 2 people and gear would only leave 2 " freeboard , so any wave was dangerous !
