I've seen that boat listed before, it sure looks nice in the pictures. She's going to burn more than 18 gph at 18 knot cruise, I don't care what the ad says. Even if it had a Cummins with a V-drive, it wouldn't be that efficient :D.

I would say the numbers are close. My buddys 42 flybridge with an 800 CAT cruises 20 kts loaded to the bone for the canyon at about 35000 lbs burning 25 gph. Same amount of fuel and water too.

That 18gph equals about 300hp so sounds like he is cruising 18K at 50% power.

Your friend 25gph equals about 425hp (53%) so he is using 125hp more which sounds more correct to me.
