Little prop upgrade....

Keel upgrade. In an effort to get nice clean water to my new prop, I extended the shaft tube 3" and added some keel fairing to smooth out the water flow from the square back of the jc keel.

Looks great! I did the keel fairing on my JC but didn’t extend the tube. I had to have my prop re-pitched afterwards but it was worth it. I gained some speed and it backs up a little better also.

I checked out what you did bill,. Looked good, glad it had positive affect on the boat. You would have to lengthen the shaft to extend the tube. Gives a little more clearance for the prop all around by doing so. She was turning a 23/23 dynaquad. The new wheel is 23/21 dqx. It will be interesting to see if there is any difference.

I replaced the shaft when I got the boat so that wasn't an option for me. I'm sure you'll see an improvement but it will be hard to tell where it came from since you changed the prop at the same time. Post your numbers when you get her in the water and run her a bit.

Slightly different approach for this 31 JC.… moved the Cat 3208 back about 4”, glassed in bronze rods that allowed the cutlass bracket to be bolted on. Gives nice clearance!

Getting that prop further back definitely gets you the clearance needed

My 1.2kw transducer was a little too large for the stock fairing. It did not read well above 8knots. Building a custom high speed fairing block

Smart move on the keel drain. mine was always freezing and cracking. Let me know how the trim tabs help.
