First the deadrise is really a chesapeake bay specific boat, it does really well in short steep chop that we get here. The 40'+ hulls span two to three waves and do quite well. They typically don't have to deal with a 6" following sea like you all do. Also the carmen molds went to a number of different builders. I believe Composite has the 32' mold.
Second, Flowers has built a walk around Downeast. I was on it in Jersey. Very utilitarian but not real pretty in my opinion.
Too funny about the 9 rod deal. The boats that I have been a mate on we normally pull between 17 and 23 rods. I can pull 13 off my 27' boat with the right crew and conditions. It's just a challenge. Just wanna have fun catching the stripers. It's just how it's done here.
But, I wouldn't do it on opening day. Impossible.
