Hello All,

I will working with some nidacore to test my skills, if any, in getting some pieces laid up with a decent roll on gel coat finish.

I am making a small helm panel out of some 1/2 inch pieces of nidacore.

Any suggestions on getting the "edges" round?

Putty, cloth wrap?

I was thinking of cutting in half a 5/8" or 3/4" round plastic conduit pipe to build up the "outside" radius.

Or a half round hollow piece of "something"

Any suggestions or maybe a tool out there.

The helm panel here was done in wood and sanded "round".

Not sure I can do than with a piece of raw nidacore.

Just make sure you sort the port and starboard nails before you start

Actually a job like this is better suited for foam board / divinycell , much easier to work with

I don't mind a little "jest" but I was asking a boat building project related question. Dammit to Hell !!!
FIFY ;)

if your hell bent on using needy core, in which i feel is the wrong material for what you are doing. You will be using quite abit of fairing compound to get your radius. I think you should look into divinycell.

Will do!

The "scored grid" stuff?

Take a 1/4 " sheet, cut the piece and bend it into a 1/2" sandwich with a eound edge ???

I couldn't resist :D

Spray foam in a can works pretty dang swell for things like these. Just let it do its thing, cut off the excess and sand to the contour you want. Due to the nature of the product, you might have to apply a bit more here and there to fill any voids but it would be a great base for your fiberglass to land on.

Bill you can get plain divinycell sheet if you want it square, and then sand the edges round. If you want to make compound curves, get the scored.
