Our good friends and Yanmar Gold-Plus Dealer at Niemiec Marine in New Bedford, MA just finished up this repower of a classic Fortier 26' with a new quiet, fuel efficient and smoke-free Yanmar 4LV250 - an electronically controlled, common-rail engine.

Removed was an old and tired Perkins 6.3544T 200hp.

Boat was completely reinvigorated. Wide-open saw 25 knots (29mph) while it quick, fuel-efficient cruise speed of 19 knots (22mph).

Installation was clean, complete and straightforward.

Love to see these classic boats kept up for a new generation to enjoy.

Great job, Niemiec!

I have a pair of TAMD 41P's (200 Hp) in my 28 Henriques. Toying with the idea of repowering when I sell the house and am considering these engines and the 275 Hp 4 cylinder John Deere engines. Would like something quieter and a little more speed.

It looks great! Do you still have the old Perkins?
