Just putting this out there so that the few rules are cleared up and everyone can get along.

1. Simply put, there is no discussion of politics, religion, or race on the site. This goes for you user profiles, signatures, pictures etc. Its a simple rule and any and all content on the site will be deleted, this includes your profile- The users on here are here for talking boats and do not need your views thrown in their face. If you cannot understand this go on your favorite politics forum and start talking about downeasts and see how well it goes over.

2. There are no personal attacks on anyone or any boat. By all means we are all here to learn from one another and are not all experts. The forum is intended for anyone from the novice boater to the boat builder to discuss downeast boats, fishing etc. No one should feel like they are asking a dumb question. Debates are fine but please dont cross the line. If there is a boat for sale and you have stood on the deck of it then you can give the readers an idea of its condition etc but dont tear someones sale apart unless you are positive you know what you are talking about.

Thats about it, the site has been running trouble free for a year and a half and these are the only things that people are having problems with and leaving the site because of it in some instances.

Just a reminder . Not naming or calling anyone out . Recently I was accused of kicking someone off the forum because he changed his avatar to a picture of trump. He knows that I have messaged him a million times and asked nicely not to post shit like that cause it starts fights and makes an otherwise unmoderated forum , moderated .but he is crying to people that's all it took for me to ban him. I can dig up all of the private messages etc but not gonna
Just got the record. I hate moderating anything .. I've banned one other person since 2011 and it was because he wanted to sue me for someone bashing his boat for sale :cry: Don't give a shit if you are left , right , it doesn't belong on here . If you simply need to go on the internet and express your beliefs we have a wonderful private message feature on here . Knock your socks off. Below is a email I received from a very respected senior member . Just as proof it pisses people off and that it's steers good , knowledgeable people away. Please respect the forum

I've appreciated the boat forum and learned a lot from it but there is more displayed on it than just boats that I don't really want to be associated with. I've expressed my disappointment in the past that one can't list a boat without it getting dissected by internet experts and I've never considered the "mermaid" section appropriate. But I'm particularly disgusted with the perpetual display of offensive avatars. From a blatantly racist graphic to, now, political messages endorsing racism, discrimination, and abuse, I've seen enough. Please cancel my subscription.

I agree with the political ban, it only starts fights but that email was referencing a candidate so he made a coded political statement in his no political statements a wtf, he should be kicked off

I tend to agree with the no politics logic, because it can go on forever and ever, without even solving one single problem in the real world. There is an old saying that has fallen by the wayside. It goes like this: "If you don't like what you're listening to, then just change the channel." We certainly don't want to lose members who are capable of contributing to this forum in a constructive manner, but this is still the internet and chit may get posted from time to time that is capable of burning your eyes. It is what it is, and that possibility should always be on your radar screen whether it's on this forum or anything else internet related. One final survival tip for the overly sensitive type out there: If you are offended by scantily clad or naked women, stop trolling the Mermaid section so you do not have to complain about it!

That person should probably stay off the internet if he can’t cope here. The classified section on every site I belong to is a source of conflict. Some forums have locked down ads so they can’t be replied to. For some guys that would probably eliminate 60% of their posts. In my opinion, it’s pretty simple if you don’t like something don’t read it, or look at it. Where are all these “offensive avatars� Seriously, it sounds like this person gets online looking for thing to be PO’d about. I have a hard time respecting anything about that, including his “holier than thou†parting message.

The vast majority here get along, share info and learn from each other. I hope this didn’t piss anyone off

Ya sooner or later if he's not re-instated we will probably see him come back as "RaiderDonnie", "Ronnie8675309", or something like that anyway. May as well just commute the sentence to temporary suspension & time served.
