It's always an issue...you find a terrific DE boat you want to buy you've gotta sell yours first. Yeah, makes sense. So, how do you get exposure, and sell quickly for the best price possible? First, you can go to the largest boat selling site in the world...YachtWorld. However, when you list with a YW broker, they'll want an 'exclusive' listing anywhere from 6 months to a year, and will require a 10% sales commission.

You can get on CraigsList free, or pay for UncleHenrys, BoatTrader, AnglersEdge, Soundings, Commercial Fishing News, New England Fisherman, or others. However, it's pretty much agreed that no other site gets the international exposure of YachtWorld.

So, as an independent boat seller, having worked with Steve Law for many years helping market his excellent 25', 28' and 32' SeaWorthys, I'm fairly well acquainted with DE boats. In fact, I've probably sold over 75 downeast boats in the last 4 or 5 years. I just sold my 38' Young Bros, and picked up a 35' Terry Jason for the family.

So, here's what I was thinking, and would like your feedback:

• At no cost to you, I'll list your boat on YachtWorld for 90 days.
• Let me know your absolute bottom line selling price. Please be real. If not, it won't sell.
• Your buyer will pay the commission, because we'll put it on top of your bottom line number.
• Provide a full description and all the pictures you have.
• Agree not to list it elsewhere (except by word of mouth) for 3 months.
• If you find a buyer yourself, we'll do all the USCG and legal paperwork and hold escrow monies, for a flat $500.
• If you find a buyer yourself and want to do all the paperwork, that's OK, and you'll owe us nothing.
• We have excellent finance, insurance and transportation sources for DE boats.
