not for long, you won't. You may not like Trump or the GOP but the other side is hell bent on stopping you, me, and everyone else from engaging in any recreational activity that involves consuming fossil fuels---and very soon.
Yup. And Obama took away all your guns. Curiously, he missed the AR, mini-14, street sweeper, .44 hand cannon and the 30 others in my closet. You make my point about gaslighting and lying just "to win." Good luck with that. Three cheers! I quit the R party and registered I after 45 years, and now I think it's time to bail on this site and relegate the notices to spam. What happened to "NO POLITICS"? Bill?

Well, for one YOUR POSTS happened to "no politics." Actually 6 posts out of a 21 post thread at this point, so more than 25%! Here's your trophy !
Now you want to take your ball and go home.
All on a thread that nobody forced you to read/look at/comment on.
Oh the oppression.
Weh

Arguing over minimum wage is silly. Like arguing over specs of dust in a cosmic dust storm.

People just don't seem to comprehend truth and the real world around them. The fact is that if you look at the poorest half of the country, about 165 million people, their net worth totals about $980 billion dollars. Compare that to the top one percent, about 3.3 million people; they have a combined net worth of over $28 trillion dollars. THAT is the wealth disparity we need to fix. Its not a rich vs poor thing, its not a black vs white thing, its not an old vs young thing, its not a republican vs democrat thing. It's a 1% incomprehensibly wealthy vs the other 99% of humanity thing.

I tell you what, there's no way on gods green earth you can get that far ahead of everyone else by being a good, kind, fair and honest person. You don't reach that 1% by the sweat of your brow. You don't get to that 1% because you worked hard to put yourself through college. You don't even reach that 1% by being lucky. And if you believe you can, and that those 3.3 million people did, and they are all wonderful people with inspiring work ethic and a little luck; well good for you. I'll try and make sure I don't accidentally knock the cord to the Matrix out of the back of your head as I shlep around here in reality.

I don't at all disagree with the top vs bottom thing as I think some of the people at my company who make 7 figures annually in comp are some of the most incompetent businesspeople I've ever come across. People who are 2, 3 levels down from the CEO making 50x what the average employee makes is not right. On the flip side of the coin, I have zero confidence in the federal government to "fix" anything; all they want to do is punish people for being rich, and not solve any of the issues that keep people from rising further up the ladder. This is simply a transfer of wealth, zero guarantee it would create more wealth for all, which should be the goal.

I don't really like politics on boating/fishing boards as it's supposed to be an escape, at least for me. But, I'll say it again because I truly believe it's a threat to the common thread that brings us all here. If anybody thinks the left side of the aisle isn't actively attempting to stop all recreational activities that require burning fossil fuels in the near future.....you've got your head in the sand. My .02, but it's pretty damn clear to me. And unless the marine industry has done an incredible job of hiding battery propulsion systems development from the public, it's a sad thought for my favorite rec activity since I could walk.

In order to understand how we got here, you need to research Saul Alinski and others like the Rathke Bros. I studied them in the 60s. Extensively. Socialists have followed the rules set by Alinski and have achieved the goal.

Think Planned parenthood is great, look up the founder, Margaret Sanger.
"Blacks, Asians and Jews are human weeds and the best thing we can do for their infants is kill them." All part of the "progressive" plan.

Why has it suddenly become wrong to have different levels of wealth or success? Why does everyone always point to the 1%ers and claim they should have less and we all deserve more? Why is income equality such an important thing? I have absolutely no issue with a CEO making 7 figures, just like most people have no issue with a pro athlete making 7 figures. I believe we all have the opportunity to be that guy, sure some get luckier than others, but anyone can go to school, work their ass off and become a CEO if they want.
I feel personally that I am not the same as some of my neighbors, I don’t want to feel guilty for driving a new truck or having a new house even if my neighbor might not. I know I’m up at 4:30 every day out by 5am kill myself mentally and physically to try my best to keep my 30 employees working daily. I get home around 6pm have dinner, get the three little ones to bed and jump back on my computer for another hour or so.
I can’t say the same for many of my neighbors. That doesn’t make them bad people or any different than me or anyone else, but financially we are different and that can’t be an issue to anyone.
I was always taught if you want something to work hard and go get it. The mentality today seems to be more like if you want something you’re entitled to it. I worry my kids will fall into that world of entitlement and I hope I can teach them the importance of hard work.

i guess the point I’m trying to make is everyone is different and anyone can be successful with hard work. People need to stop trying to make everyone equal, we’re not, never will be. That’s the beauty of America!

ok rant over.... back to boats
No. Everyone can’t be successful with hard work. If the guy who came before you bought and paid for a system that prevents it. I don’t mean to be rude, but you are one of the masses who hasn’t the slightest clue of what real wealth and power is. And wealth disparity isn’t about who works hard, it’s about who behaves like a decent human being and who doesn’t.

Qoute" it’s about who behaves like a decent human being and who doesn’t" This line is what should be a separate but important aspect that is put in a discussion like this but never really is applied or discussed?? Question, At what point is someone wealthy? What is wealth? Who is the defacto ruler of the line between wealth and non wealth? Who has the right to determine what and how is hard? The ruler of this office keeping a detailed history on all it took for the individual reaching said wealth determined by this ruler? Pesky little thing like human nature have any influence?? Just asking?

I have inside info. Research everyone who made a mint off PayPal. They got rich by cheating. This includes Elon. People can be both inspirational at some point, and dirt bags at others. It was his dirtbag side that got him into the 1%.

I don’t know where to draw the line, just that it has to be drawn. How about $500 million? Or how about we don’t have a hard limit. We instead review each case separately and decide if it is good or bad for humanity? If someone is working for the greater good, we leave them alone, and if someone is working only for himself and at the expense of others, we take back our money.
