anyone know what a 3406 400hp @1800rpm 3:1 MG 5114-HD not sure wheel diameter 3.5" shaft 5 blade rice w/cage in a 49x22 Atkinson would burn at 7-8 knots.

i used to have a link to a calculator that you could plug in the hp, size, hull type, ect. and get an estimate but not knowing the wheel size i dont know if it would work.

any one running one like this know fuel consumption for a five day gillnet trip steaming 140 nm.

I don't have any experience with that hull but I did work a bunch of seasons on a 44X21 or 22leblanc with a 4-5foot extension on it. boat was a beast with a 60series detroit detuned down to either 400-420hp. We cruised 8kts in the ocean at 7-8 gph depending. I have scene the boat buck the tide do [email protected] and 9kts @6gph with it. steady 8kt in ocean though. My guess is youll be in the same ballpark of 1mpg. don't know any the info on tranny or wheel sorry.

Displacement ---Speed (kts)---- HP Required--- GPH----- [email protected]
40000 lbs---------8-------------- 113--------- 5.6------ 1.43--------1.61
45000------------8---------------128----------6.4------1.25---------1.43
50000------------ 8-------------- 142--------- 7.1------ 1.13--------1.28
55000------------8---------------156----------7.8-------1.02--------1.17
60000------------ 8-------------- 170--------- 8.5------ 0.94--------1.07

The above assumes 20HP/gallon of fuel burned per hour.
