I'm starting to look around at some DE boats. She'll be used for recreational fishing and cruising with the wife. I'm looking for some rough estimates on fuel numbers. I'm thinking mid-30' (35 Bruno, 36 Duffy, Wilbur, etc.) with a single diesel (it'll be used, so mechanical) that'll get a 14-15 knot cruise.

Any idea what I could expect at cruise of 15 knts and say 7 knts?

Thanks

I've got a 35 terry jason, and rigged for a canyon run with hundreds of pounds of ice, 320 gallons of fuel, 5 big guys and lots of gear, we burned about 60 gallons to cruise out about 80 miles. For the whole trip, we logged about 280 nm on the gps odometer and burned roughly 175 gallons of fuel in total (a lot of that was trolling). At cruise, I was averaging about 15 knots. With a light load I do much better. Canyon loads are pretty much worse case. The power is a 370 yanmar. It is turbocharged but not common rail.

I have a 33' flowers with a cummins qsb 480hp (common rail). i burn about 7-8 gallons/hr at 15 knots and 11gph at 21 knots. we do day fishing trips and overnight family trips, so not a ton of gear but usually have 200+ gallons of fuel on. at troll, i burn .5/ghp which is great compared to my friends who have twin 250hp outboards on a 28 grady white. any of the common rails will provide similar numbers. good luck!
