Thinking of picking up one of these used, what do you know about them? Anybody have one? I like the big screen(old eyes) and with 1,2 or 3 kw's of power i should be able to see the shrimps antenna's between the rocks in a 100 fathoms.

The 292 used to be the top of the line. Now they sell the bigger LCD version. You can go to Furuno's website and view previous products.Over time the picture tube tends to get weak and the screen is not as bright, but it takes alot of use. They were a very popular unit.

I don't know about the 292 ,but I do know about the " old eyes " and the big screen would be nice.

Thats what i wanted to hear, have you used it much in 100-150 fathoms for marking bottom or should i say to figure out what the bottom is made of ? I need to be able to tell mud from gravel or rock. Yeah they do look big but i'll figure out a way to mount it when the time comes.

Do you know offhand what number your ducer is? I have a B-256 and from the research i've done its a 1kw model so i'm thinking it will play fine with a 292. Guess a call to airmar would clear things up.
