Fairly new AFI (Marinco) wiper motor fills with water down the shaft and can't escape housing. These motors are $2-300 and they won't return phone calls or email messages IMG_0874 (1).JPG w AFI (Marinco) wiper motor fills with seawater down the shaft and is trapped in the housing,

I have Lexan windows and I have never been sure if Rain-X will harm them so never used it.

This was more about a heads-up on AFI (Marinco) than anything else.

Just to finish out the story, I did get the Vetus motor, the one that looks like the old Bosch, Found it is also made in China. Installed it only to find that it can't be used on an installation where the "park" power is always on (separate w/ it's own fuse) . You must either use their proprietary, and expensive, switch or some other type double throw switch that kills the "park" power when you turn the wiper on . Can't say that I have ever seen a boat (or car for that matter) wired this way. So right now, I'm using one speed and no park.
So, if your boat is already wired & switched in the conventional manner, you might want to go with a motor w/ conventional park system. Live and learn.

That’s a shame. I have a pair of 16 year old AFI wiper motors that work mint. QC must have gone downhill when they shifted manufacturing to Asia

Yes, the old AFI wiper lasted well. Does the "A" in AFI stand for American? My first act as president is going to be to prohibit companies from using American in their name if they have imported goods. American Standard plumbing is a good example.

Yes, but I believe the F is for Foreign. As in American Foreign Industries. I always thought that was an odd name…
