Anybody out there install a green stick on their boat? Thinking of putting one on mine and trying to shorten the leaning curve. Info like where to buy them, necessary supports, and info on the bandit gear would be of help.

Funny was just speaking to Butch at Etheridge Fishing Supply in Wanchese, NC today about getting one for next year. Looks to be about a $6,000 setup at min. probably 6,500 when done... then sinces it for a boat $7,000 probably gets everything...

How much of that was the stick? I guess part of it was a deck reel and other rigging.

Just talked to them today. 40' was 4800 or so. Then was figuring spool was 300. What's a new reel 700 to 1000. Thing I didn't ask was the bird...

Damn, they've gone up a bit, but hasn't everything. If you get a boat that hasn't had one, then you need some welding done too...

I had my eye on a used one down here, then someone beat me to it. Paid the guy cash and then slipped out owing the marina. If you guys see a POS gray Carolina boat up there chasing bluefins, that's the deadbeat that screwed our marina.

Still there- only not so many e's in Wanchese.

Good place to buy tackle if you need what he's got.

Funny let me ask you this... Sometimes I swear I've seen a polyball being towed instead of a bird? At one point I thought they used to tie a poly ball off to the bird for some reason... Anyone elaborate on this? So just how good was it with giants?

I have a greenstick out here in Hawaii, its run though a reenforced tube in my roof to a 12x12' baseplate on my wheelhouse floor.

The bird I inherited with the whole system/boat is made of 4x4 and plywood. May seem ghetto, but it was built right, and under the watchful eye of some extemely reputable Japanese fishermen.

FWIW hope that helps.

Im set up with one of the hard plastic ridged Bouy balls. I don't know what they're called. It's tied directly to my bird.

The bird is a big comotion maker and sea anchor for the most part, you put the ball on there for if/when your mainline parts.

I'll try to make a minute to go down to the boat tomorrow and take some pictures. I don't have any of her in action, but maybe itll at least be cool to look at. I want to warn you though, I'm a downeast junkie and the next boat will be a downeast, but my boat now is a stretched out Kauai 'built' Hawaiian boat! No picking on me!

Try looking on Youtube under "Greenstick Fishing" and "Ahi Jumping" also if your interested I have some info that I sent for regarding how to run the greenstick. PM me an address and I will mail you copies of what I have. Like other members here have said Butch Etheridge is the man you want to speak to if you want to get one new. I have a friend who has a setup that is less than 3 months old and he just sold the boat it was on and removed it before the sale. i will ask him if he is looking to get rid of it or if he is putting it on his next boat.
Thanks Eric

Green (white) stick

Over last winter I painted a green stick white for Fred (Seaworm)
For mounting it he had a pocket fabricated that is mounted in the stb side washboard close to his helm and I believe just forward of his stb sliding door and the base of the stick drops in snug.
There is a clamp/ roof mount keeping it upright.
Bandit reel is on a stainless pipe that drops down through the stb washrail aft and has a smaller diameter pipe welded to a plate on the deck locking the pipe in place that the reels is mounted on.
The reel hoses have quick disconnects so the reel can be stored away when not in use.
