OK guys here's a few more details,
Northumberland style lobster.
Built 1980
builder: Dosithé Léger, Richibouctou New Brunswick
Length 38'
Beam: 13'
Draft: 3'
Speed: 11 knots max (8 knts cruise)
Power: Perkins M135
Hull: Fiberglass/wood.

I bought her in the fall and decided to leave her in NB for the winter with her P/O, there wasn't much time to arrange delivery, and the nearest haul out lift is a 6 hour steam from my home port of Jacksons arm NL.
She was a working boat until 2004, the P/O purchased her and had total refit carried out including recover in fiberglass, engine rebuild.

She's been beautifully cared for, no expense spared, I'm having the GPS/plotter updated while she's on the hard.
Next spring I will steam her home..as soon as the ice is out, it's a 650 nm trip so I must swat up on my navigation skills for that, it will be my first long haul trip in a big boat.

Darn, I knew it was the wrong time to give up drinking!!.

I retired this summer so I can take my time to a point, need someone to mind my dogs for me while I'm away, now how far I can steam in a day without falling asleep is the unknown factor!!.

I was hoping to hit the road..water, in April but the local fishermen here tell me that it might be May before the ice moves out totally, icebergs will still be a hazard though.

Well to tell you the truth I'm still deciding how I will bring her home, I have an offer from the P/O who used her for lobster fishing when she was new, he is quite happy to make the trip for me.

On the other hand, what better way to to learn the boat than by doing the trip myself, yes it's a very long cruise and I'm not experienced with a big boat, but I think I can handle it OK.

Having help aboard would probable mean we could push on through the night and split the watch.

Agreed..welcome.
I have a similar situation and will hopefully bring the boat (35 ft) from the Chesapeake up to NYC in the spring. Guessing about 350 nm plus or minus 10 percent as a rough calculation, so you certainly have further to go.
I will do it with another experienced sailor. Or truck it.. lots of variables.

Although a much shorter trip for you, I would not want to attempt that alone, I suppose you will be using the ICW?, too much traffic, too many locks etc for my liking.

To get through that much beer you have to drink it at room temperature. Trust me.
