One of the lucky ones.... Just sold my boat looking for another!
To many boats to little time! You see a great boat but then it's missing this or that. Then you see a boat within all but it's not for sale.... I've looked at a ton of boats and am coming to the conclusion you gotta build it yourself! Any thoughts!

Size? Budget? Required speed? Usage? In order to get exactly why u want, yes you need to have it built. Hope #2 question has a big answer.

I'm thinking in the 30 range is going to do what I need. 20kt cruise. Inshore fishing small amounts of offshore and minimum canyon trips. Probably gonna take $150k

You've narrowed your hull choices down to a managable number.

Not many DE hulls that will give you an honest 20 knot solid/steady cruise.

We are only talking 30 feet. Got a couple quotes in the 110k plus electronics. Don't need frills just neat and clean. The other option is to identify the hull and find a clean one and repower. I was originally thinking by a small de to get by while I spend a year getting this one together then give the small one to the kids to play with.

A friend just did a 34 beal with 450hp and great electronics package lobster boat style for 170k so I think 150k in a 30 should be doable.

Try talking to Ken Flowers Mainley boats on this site. I spent a good long while on the phone with him and was really suprised at what was available in a new build in the range I was willing to spend. I have some really weird and difficult wants and needs if I decide to go with a new build and he took them in stride.

We are hoping to make our way up there this fall to see the shop etc.

Really nice guy. The 33 sounds like a good fit and he sounds as though speed hasn't been a problem. I also like his down to earth perspective.
