I am torn on the decision to move up or stay put. Presently running a 2007 28' Jason. While we are reasonably content with the boat, it is not the exact boat for us.

The major issue I have is the engine box. It drives me nuts and requires the side companionway which I think impacts the W/H and cabin huge! Other than that, minor issues are no auto pilot,(which I won't spend the $$ on till I know I am keeping her) no galley (My bride's issue) and could use a little more room overall. Other than that shes all good;sips the fuel (240 hp Yanmar...300 hrs.) handles decent, loaded with all the good stuff,(except A/P)and best of all,has no note!

We use the boat mostly to fish,50/50 offshore, inshore, and just about every night in season to hang out and R&R !

I dream about a 31 Duffy, 32 H&H, or something in that category.Something used,in the $100,000 range included value of my present ride. One day I'm ready to put the Jason on the market, the next I convince myself I'm nuts to make a move like that in this economy. HELP !!!

Seams like Captlarry has your solution. I don't think you could buy a boat better maintained than that and it has everything you could need.

No note and you know what you have, why risk getting something bigger that you might not like. Bite the bullet and stick a pilot on and build the wife a small galley.:D

Wow,great response...keep it coming...I need all the help I can get ! LOL

Larry's boat seem like a real steal; holy crap, she's loaded up. Deal breaker is the bridge.

RobertM...31 Duffy...I would be all over it by now but....annoying engine box!

I hear ya on the "you only live once". Like I said,one day,that's me...The next day,a complete 180 !

Anybody a player for a loaded up,spotless T.Jason?

Why is the deal breaker the bridge? Looks? Second station? Seems like a plus to me but if you don't like the look I understand.

I have said it before don't bash engine boxes. On many boats the box allows for good access and a better exhaust geometry for a wet exhaust system. Too many boats with motors under floor boards have shallow or no exhaust risers barely above waterline (does not apply to dry stack). That is often a formula for turbo and motor problems down the line.

I agree completely in regards to engine boxes helping the exhaust mechanics of a boat but they are still a giant pain in the ass.

Tunaorlater...Just not into a bridge;especially on a D/E. Also the weather around here is not always conducive to a bridge.

As far as the box goes;I agree,a major PIA. Designed correctly, there should be no issue with the exhaust.

Just in case you did not realize, Larry's boat has up and down stations so u only go up when the weather lets you. Your 28 is a very seaworthy boat and will be hard to replace and make you happy.

I hear ya. I fish on a buddy's 35 Duffy and guess I get a little spoiled @ what kicks the crap out of use in my ride is a piece of cake in his.I realize that this is a night and day comparison, but ....

If only no freakin box, I would be content !!!:(

That annoying engine box is why it took us so long to find a hull. We started in the 28 foot range and ended up in a 31 RP. With the cummins 380, we've only got a 8" step up to the bridge deck. Worked out great and no more stubbed toes!

Good Luck.
