I got this little genset for a hurricane a few years ago. I'm not sure who makes the engine but It runs great and starts first pull every time. Only about 50 hrs on it so far. I'm sure CAT doesn't make the engine (Gas). Bought it at Lowes. 20190829_132754.jpg

remember to fill with oil or at least check to see if it has oil in it.
Thanks Steve honestly it’s not a bad reminder . It came with a quart and I filled it up. I’ll start it up tomorrow hopefully .. when I was putting it together my neighbor across the way said oh I was gonna sell my generator cause we’re having a standby gen put in.. I was like oh what kind is it ? He said 7500 Westinghouse lol.

Bill, Just out of curiosity how many times a year do you guys loose power ?
At least half a dozen I would say Don. My town is a peninsula so it’s just 1 feed and something always happens to fall on it

Nice building! Looks great. I keep thinking about putting in a permanent generator down in my shop and back feeding my house from there, but we never lose power here. Of course that will jinx me this winter.

It'll work for now. The wife has to go outside and start the generator, and the swap breakers in the house, which are interlocked so she can't kill anyone. While I'm at work I'll order w louvered damper for the radiator outlet. I ran it for 5ish hours today on the house and it runs awesome, no flickering lights and everything in the house works. Still need to clean up some of the wiring and put an oil pan heater in it, but time is short before I head back to work.
