how big a wheel can you swing?

found this in my pics its of the tug boat luna and thats tom who is 5'10 and the boats sitting about 2 foot off the deck.

haha oh i can play this game!! this was my last ship, kinda small by comparison to other ships ive been on, about 350ft. pic of the wheel, and yup, they hand-buffed the WHOLE wheel! not sure about the wheel size but our engine was a 8 cylinder 8200 horsepower. the second and third picture were off the ship next to us, no idea about the engines size

The ship I used to work on could turn a 22 foot wheel which we had off more than once while I was assigned to her.

billD, we were a mile away from the dock when we had a crank case explosion and lost the crankshaft, we were towed back to singapore and had the crankshaft replaced which took 3 months. we went into drydock after two and a half months to clean the bottom and thats what we found, its incredible how fast everything grew, looked like a coral reef!
