I'm posting this pic for purpose of illustrating some of the install options on a Cummins 6B or 6BTA.

Pic #1 shows a 6BTA 330 or 370 with the turbo mounted on top of the exhaust manifold instead of the back end and the expansion tank mounted on the L side of the engine instead of up front.

For comparison,

Pic#2 is a pic of the 6BTA 370 in my boat, a "typical setup" for a 6BTA.

Assuming one was installing a 6BT or 6BTA in a boat that would require an engine box and the engine placement in a low profile hull, the placement of the expansion tank to the side shortens the overall length of the engine and engine box and the "high mount turbo" will gain some added height above the water line for the riser/exhaust system design.

For what it's worth on this cold dull January day! LOL,

Bill D
