Hi guys, been lurking for a while and wanted to introduce myself. I've learned a lot from reading all your posts over the past few months. Not a DE owner yet but have crewed on some great DEs over the past few years and am looking forward to my first buy/project. Currently located on the south shore of LI but will be r/r tuna fishing out of Boothbay as soon as a few higher quality fish start to show up at George's.

Wanted to know if any of the builders/finishers/mechanics on this site have an opinion on the programs offered at International Yacht Restoration School(IYRS) in Bristol RI. I am considering the Marine Systems program at IYRS and was hoping to hear from any graduates or anyone who may work with graduates of the program. Hoping to eventually finish boats as a full time gig. Thanks

My brother went to irys with a focus on systems installation. I also know a couple other people who went there, seems to me like you can get a job anywhere after graduating from their program

I've heard firsthand that the going joke around Newport Shipyard is that they're borderline useless. I would take that with a grain of salt but my buddy's wooden boat restoration co runs through three or four IYRS graduates a summer.

He's even told me that the ones that drop out are more employable than the ones that graduate. I would go Landing School, guy. Or the Boat School.

Oh ok, I was helping him with that garmin in June. Does he have a buyer for it? It'll be a sad day to see that boat leave the harbor.
Either of ye two have a picture of this vessel?
Some of us aren't as fortunate to live in Boothbay as ye two!

Likewise, we'd like a harbor picture as well...

Wow.

I don't do much fishing myself, but I would if I owned that boat. That boat should be Awlgripped flag blue with a cove stripe and she'd be stunning. Impressive. Probably be able to see thirty miles in the upper station!
