on the height off the cockpit floor and how far "out" from the side of the boat a davit pole/pulley system should be to haul traps?

Or is it based on an individual's height and comfortable arm reach without falling overboard?

I'm installing one on the side of my Blackfin to pull (conditions permitting) an occasional trap or two by hand.

60 ft of line, 30 feet of water.

I always held the davit in place with some clamps and had some traps rigged up in the way the owner has theirs just to see how everything cleared. No real set rules, every boat is different.

bill. you need a new, simple, 25 bhm. to haul those traps! something around 300hp cause those lobsters off of nbpt are fast.
