to preface this, my name is on several waitlists at town and private marinas/harbors. Looking for a slip or mooring to put a 35x12' boat. Need it for may/June through December anywhere on cape. Boat I've been planning on buying is coming up for sale but unfortunately haven't been able to find a place to put it for 2023. Have called various marinas around cape with no luck. Have a few more phone calls to make but i know this community is pretty large and if someone knows of a private mooring or slip that someone is renting or a marina that might have availability, I'm all ears! TIA

You try Hyannis Marina and Dockside? They had some empty slips last few seasons.

Check FB marketplace (if you haven’t already). I’m not on FB but had a friend send me one from there 2 years ago when things were still tight everywhere in New England and ended up with a good situation. Not sure how marketplace works but worth a look or having a friend with Facebook looking there for one. Just make sure when you talk to the owner it’s all registered legal to sublet (I.e. in NH/ME it has to be registered commercial and has to be inspected yearly vs personal is every other year or third year I believe).

Awesome. Will do. Appreciate the information! Hoping I can scrounge up something here soon.

Most, if not all, the towns on the Cape Cod do not allow people to sublet their moorings when not using them.

Maybe consider a close off Cape location such as Wareham, Plymouth or even New Bedford to get you through a season or two. I know it's not the most desirable given your location but it's better than the boat not being launched.

Speaking of moorings, what are the requirements for Yarmouth (Cape Cod) to be able to qualify for mooring permit or dock space?

Was hoping more for a private mooring/dock that you might be able to do a legal work around with. I know town moorings and slips etc are not allowed to be sublet but say a private dock or mooring on bass river can be I believe

Yeah I've reached out to a couple buddies in Plymouth. That will be the sort of last resort. Thanks!

Pretty sure I got something locked down in P town. Dennis to p town will suck to do regularly but solved the issue for the time being. Thanks for all the suggestions and info!

Get a slip or mooring up here? 50/50 chance I might be vacating a slip on the commercial side of MacMillan, depends if I sell the boat or not, could be up in the air until April. Pier rate around $5k
Yeah spoke to the dockmaster at the marina and said they have several moorings available but i would certainly be interested in a slip if you end up selling! Might be able to see if someone is already on a waitlist or not and talk about that option with them.

As far as I know there is no such thing as a “private mooring.” They are regulated by each town with their own rules, most of which don’t allow people to let other people use their moorings. The only exception for moorings I’m aware of are transient moorings which marinas are allowed to use for customers as they please.

That sounds like Provincetown Marina. You should go to the Harbormaster at McMillan and get on the slip list, need to be a "commercial" person though, get a tuna, striped bass, etc license and that does it. But, need to be on the waiting list
Gotcha. Got the licenses etc just didn't know there were two separate harbors/marinas. I don't frequent the marina/harbor of p town more than once or twice a year. Ill give them a shout and get on the list. Appreciate it.

There are lots of private moorings in Chatham. Can't get them anymore but years ago you could. I know a guy that has 12 moorings. He rents them out each season and has a long wait list. It's amazing how long the wait is at some of these towns.
