My neighbor bought a retirement palapa on the beach in Mexico. He bought a '92 Wrangler to keep down there for transportation. We drove it from CT to Pamuul which is next to Playa Del Carmen. We proudly made it from CT to Brownsville TX in 2 days which is about half way. We crossed the border and discovered a completely different world. It took us 7 more days to reach the palapa, and we did not make frequent stops, but you can not drive at night if you value your life. That ought to give you an idea of the roads and amount of illegal activities. Amazing trip though and cherish the memories! We saw the real Mexico, dined with the locals, and ate things that we couldn't even identify. From the pie lady on the street corner selling unwrapped tiny fruit pies out of her apron, to a burned out gas station turned "restaurant" cooking "fresh road kill"on a wood fire, to dealing with the machine gun laden check points along the way. Amazing trip! The stories I can tell about this one are almost endless and will leave you almost pissing your pants. That Jeep was perfect for jungle travel too. Glad I did that trip but would never consider it today. However, they have completed new highways over the last 10 years so driving that trek is now much easier.

1979 CJ7 factory V8 automiatic wirh quadratrac. The definition of parasitc losses.
One owner summer family. Garaged all its life with 38,000 miles.
I got lucky and grabbed it. No rust which is a rare thing out here.
I realize I am a Bronco guy at heart and always will be so I like it but don't love it.
It waits for me to have time to use it.

Those Tracker A/T's take me back. Worst tire on the beach EVER!!! You can let them down to 5 pounds and they would never belly out. Any lower than that and they would pop a bead.
Give me the Armstrong TruTracs any day.
Those were the days.
At least the stuff I remember.
