33 Duffy
Hello All!

A few Folks from this forum have asked me to post the progress of our 33 Duffy being built at Atlantic Boat in Brooklin Maine...So here we are about half way thru the build. I had originally posted on Noreast.com but will continue here with pictures as well.

The Duffy we're building is based on the 31 hull stretched to 33', we'll keep it light in weight for both speed and economy. After the seatrial we'll move the boat to New Bedford and use the boat for our commute to Cuttyhunk, offshore runs and possibly 6-pack charters.

We'll start with the mosr recent set of of pictures just after the white Awlgrip was applied to the topsides... As "Bill D" says..."For what it's worth"

Thanks for bringing your build progress over to this site. You have the makings of a gorgeous boat there, wishing you the best of luck with her. Looking forward to the updates!

I noticed on the noreast thread that Atlantic boats raised the sheer 3" on your hull. I think the raised sheer makes the boat look better (and tougher). Beautiful boat, keep the pics coming

I sprayed my quater gaurds and spray rails they come out great but I'm not sure the paint would take the abuse that a rub rail gets, but I'm sure AB knows better then me,

Powder, I used white on this boat and grey on my last. The grey faded like the black, the white looks great with a little cleaner wax once a year.

MDI, I have the black rubrail/toerail on my boat & it was HIGHLY oxidized. A friend with a 28 Harris showed me a trick that works great, actually burns off the oxidation. Acetone, but not just wiping it down. Completely saturate a white terry rag with acetone & grab on to the rail with a little pressure, hold it there approx 10 seconds or so & then start moving the rag very, very slowly along the rail. you'll feel the surface of the rail soften a bit under your grip & burn off the oxidation as you go & the rail looks new when done. May take a couple attemps to get your teqnique down, but the finished product will look great. Sorry if this de-rails this thread

Been watching the stretch/build tread on Noreast
Not till now did I notice some detail in the 2nd pic you posted here.
Front upper tip of the bow, it has a very similar if not exact ornament shape as do the BHMs.
Don't think I noticed that on other Duffy's.

You'll have zero visibility issues in the rain with those 3 seys of wipers!!

The boat is coming along nicely !!!!!

The wipers have 3-intermittent settings and wiper mounted washers...I like the rugged dual arms. Should work well wiping the salt spray off.

Thanks for the comments on the build, pro or con they're all welcome.
