Well, lost my almost-DE boat to the storm. Short and sweet: 5 foot surge over the bulkhead took the boat down the creek. Yard personnel retreived it and pumped it out. Took water in the forward cabin and engine compartment. Almost new (400 hrs) Mercruiser 8.1 L MPI engine submerged. Possibly tranny as well (ZF). Cabin is clean. No muck or mud. I do not think water got into the gas tanks-boat was bow down, gas tank vents and fillers are near the stern. Dont know about the running gear but shaft and rudder logs seem to be holding. Trim tabs are unharmed. I can see the rudder and it looks OK. There are a few other dings and dents which I can discuss. It was insured for less than it will take to get it done and well, you know how much things cost when the marina does it. Insurance adjuster has pronounced total loss.

I do not have it in me to bring this boat back (skills, time or energy or $$) from the dead. I am offering it to this group first if there is somone who wants to undertake this. Boat is in the water and can be towed or pulled and trucked.

For someone with the mechanical skills and a little 12V rewiring, you can have a 28 ft flybridge boat with a 10ft+ beam, large cockpit with a "salty" cabin (mahogany trim inside). This boat is a stable platform and has a sharp entry. Anyone knowing a Lang knows it looks a little funny and is slow, but it gets you there in comfort.

Not posting pics now-call me at 516-851-2329 for all the details or email: [email protected]

I will even throw in the Porta-Potty!

Phil, Sorry you lost your boat to Sandy. You had a true classic Lang 28’. She is all solid glass construction and certainly worth being repaired by a talent person with a vision of having a fine offshore platform to fish on. With fresh power and some wiring I am sure she will fine a new owner and home.
