I think winslow has always been the lightest but also most expensive. I got quotes from lrse at the boat show for Viking. There offshore with the self righting was $3150 for valise and $3525 for cradle and hydro release. They have a special with free shipping and 10% down take delivery anytime over the next year. That special I think is for the month of January. April first prices go up. If you want to pm your email I can forward the quotes.

Thanks guys, had a very bad and dangerous experience with Lrse re-pack. Which they never owned up to.

I bought my raft new from lrse, but couldn't stomach their repack pricing. I take it instead to westerbeke in south boston.

They somehow manage to beat lrse by at least 50% on repacks. They have contracts with the coast guard and ferries, so this isn't a fly by night operation.

You will need a seeing eye dog to find them though. ;)

They seem to have good pricing on new gear as well. Give them a call.

I got my Revere at BOE Marine also. They beat LRSE's price by about $500. Their re-pack price was way out of line

raft

Last one was an Elliott from Westerbeke but the weight was 160lbs. Like to get a lighter one w/ out spending the cash for a Windslo sp?

Viking makes a good raft and I think it's 63lbs if I remember correctly. I bet that raft would fly out like a feather even if it was 200lbs if you ever needed it! :)

I have to beg to differ about LRSE in Rhode Island, I found the best price on a new liferaft at LRSE and check out the facility, it's one of the cleanest and best around. Might cost a little more, I think the professionalism and confidence I had in them is worth more to me. I used to do my raft at Westerbeke in Boston, but they lost the lisence to do Elliot brand and wasn't happy with the reasons why so I switched to LRSE. Nobody wants to pay the high cost of life raft service but, especially me, I look at it like insurance, it S$%cks but wouldnt complain if my boat was going down, would I !!

Lrse

Safety was my concern with Lrse. They put several holes along a seem by re-packing it incorrectly, and totally avoided my phone calls and offered nothing.

Life Raft Deals

CB,
That must of been an anomoly, they encourage people to come see their rafts opened for service. I've seen mine inflated and I highly doubt they would encourage opening rafts for you with shoddy service. Their new location in Tiverton is huge, although I did like when they were on the water in Portsmouth. I know the owner Jim O'Connor and he wouldn't allow that kind of service, there's too much at stake! Anyone else feel like I do?

Just curious, how did you find the holes, did you open it up to use or was it at the next service they were found?

raft

Follow up yearly service, folded on a seam then vacume packed too tight is what the manufactor said. Luckly I was not at sea:eek: Lsre denial and avoidence was the biggest turn off
