Lobster Boat Races Next Weekend?

I'm making the trip to Maine next weekend to pick up the Wesmac hull. My father and I would like to attend a Lobster boat race over the weekend. Looks like the race will be held on August 19th in Portland? Anyone on this forum going to be there and have any tips or suggestions for some newbies? We aren't into partying or drinking, so I'm not really looking for the cool party, but would like to meet anyone on this forum who might be attending and would love to see some boats racing. Thanks,

There will be quite a few of us there Brian... for the races...not the parties. Come by the registration Sunday morning.

Circled area is where the boats will be tied up before and after the race, as well as where the ramp is to put in/pull out. Also sign up happens here.

There is a sailboat race (twirls finger in air) on Saturday, and the Tugboat Muster is after the lobster boat races. Races kick off at 1000 hrs (more or less)

Word is there will be some sort of party Saturday night, location currently is unknown. I suspect the Old Port will turn a dime or two that night...

And the blue line represents (roughly) where the course is, heading West into the harbor. Large hill on the land to view from, but you better bring your opera glasses because it's a bit far away...
