Looking for DE 34 to 36
Just joined forum. Now out of sailing and looking to purchase DE for limited cruising for 2 people in 34 to 36 range. Used is preference. No flybridge. I like the true hardtop semi open sides with canvas covers, diesel.

Considering the 35 Duffy , 36 Newman and 34 Wilbur. Would like high end finish....any other suggestions are welcome. Seems like there are more with flybridges ...may have to consider one of these and remove the FB.

Thanks in advance.

If your coming from a sailboat you should really look at a Wilbur a few nice duffy 35's around pretty well finished.

Looking for DE 34 to 36
DE 34 to 36

I have looked at the WIlbur 34 and Duffy 35's . This boat will be used down on the Chesapeake so I am looking for a more open pilot house type.
Most are built for NE and have enclosed sides with ugly looking windows.
Guess I could have modified to open up but the cost after buying the boat puts me up out of budget.

Mark we just came out of sailing built a Flowers 38 for cruising just the 2 of us. We are mostly on Buzzards Bay, Vineyard Sound and the finish on our boat is beautiful we have a Cummins 500 hp cruise at 17 and quite a few creature comforts. We do have the ugly as you say windows but on a snarky day on Buzzards Bay the windows and warmth are great. We love our boat would never go back to sailing. Flowers makes a 33 and they will build what you want. Worth looking at Blitzen's 36

No insult intended but when you look at the refined hull form on these boats it seems that often some topside cabin configurations do not do it justice. I understand that function and form many times must follow.
Best to you,

Mark

Ugly windows? Ouch...
I guess I have seen a lot of "frugal" window treatments on DE's.
Here's a couple pics of my windows and interior. Maybe it will help you to see what might be done.

Like looking ship. The windows look like they belong. Not the hard sharp edges and angles I have seen on some DE's. Very nice interior.....what is the hull and who finished her? Thanks
