Hi John, Welcome I have a CD28 as well Hull #165 from 1989. Do you know your hull number? I just had the bottom glass bead blasted to remove 30 years of bottom paint.

The best $800 I have spent in a while.
Sea Hawk barrier coat, then hard epoxy in Red then black ablative for final coat this weekend. I hope it cools down outside some!

Off topic a bit. What is the most HP (diesel) anybody has ever put in a CD 28 and what were the numbers?

    John,
Just the person I need to talk to.
I'm looking for a CD 28 or 30 with the flybridge. Always liked the looks of them, in fact I still have the original review that was published in the March, 1990 issue of Motor Boating and Sailing. I've had center consoles with outboards my entire life so this is my first venture into owning a Downeast boat and an inboard diesel engine. Are there any issues that I should be aware of in the process of looking for one? Any insight and advise you have on the boat would greatly be appreciated. Basically I just need room for myself and the wife and occasionally visiting kids or one other couple. My cruising area is SW Florida and I'd like a boat to go to the Keys and Abacos. Will this boat cruise at 12-14 knots with a single 200hp?
Thank you in advance for your help...
    Wayne

I would love to see that article. I checked the archive and cannot find it in the March 1990 issue. Did I miss it or is it possibly a different issue. Any confirmation will be helpful,
    Thanks,
    Russ

I read about a 240hp Yanmar being installed on capedory28.info. I don't recall any numbers posted. My understanding is they get squirrly over 16knts. I'll never see that with my
    TAMD41B !
Others probably know more than me. I do love this hull and the layout.

Hi Russ, My CD-28 is hull 160. I bought her in Del Ray FL with a replaced 240 HP Yanmar and an Entec 3.5 KW diesel genset. I have fully serviced the Yanmar with a 1000 hour service and same for the Gen. I take her yearly back and forth to Stuart FL from my home on the Severn river in Annapolis. She will cruise @ 16K and top at nearly 20K with light fuel. Shes a great boat! I added trim tabs and a Garmin Radar/GPS chirp fish finer, new AC, new Frigiboat refer and shes all I could ask for in a small cruiser for not alot of $!

    Thanks for the info John,
I'm very curious about your generator setup. Where is it mounted? Any chance you have any pictures of the installation. Also would love to see your Yanmar setup. Sounds like you have her dialed in quite nice. I'm still in the refit phase so any and all information is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Russ

I'm in coastal NC so AC is a must. Also the usual stuff Microwave, coffee etc. I haven't done an AMP calculation but anything that would start a locked compressor will work even probably a 2KW with soft start capacitor. I've received a few good recommendations on another thread I posted including good advice from you regarding a cockpit mount solution. Curios as to where John has his Entec mounted

Ok. I was going to suggest a DC generator but don’t want you to have to reinvent the wheel.
